collaboration announcement with LJMU

The concept of theatre, and the nature of a performance, can occur in many different ways, in many different shapes and sizes.

troublehouse are no strangers to bringing their performances to unusual and unconventional locations; from warehouses in Manchester to social housing in Bolton, our previous productions have used their venues as a tool to challenge our audiences rather than just entertain. Now, for the first time, troublehouse comes to Liverpool.

“Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and can also be a means of transforming society. Theatre can instruct us, not only in the way we act, but in the way we live.” — Peter Brook

This month, in a first for the theatre company, troublehouse will be producing a piece of legislative theatre with an academic purpose and a research motive. Funded and in collaboration with Liverpool John Moore University this live performance will be designed to better the knowledge of its audience, who are also its participants.

Produced and directed by Rick, a small company of actors will rehearse and  peform in a mock scenario as stakeholders and community leaders in a very real debate alongside an invited audience.

More information as well as casting details and important dates will be annoucned shortly.
